A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SUMRALL ATTENDANCE CENTER VARSITY CHEERLEADER SQUAD FOR WINNING THE AMERICAN CHEERLEADER ASSOCIATION NATIONAL COMPETITION.
WHEREAS, the Sumrall Varsity Cheerleaders recently competed in the American Cheerleader Association (ACA) National Competition; and
WHEREAS, the competition was held in San Antonio, Texas, on January 15-17, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Sumrall Cheerleaders attended an ACA camp this summer at the University of Southern Mississippi where they received a bid to National Competition; and
WHEREAS, after months of practice, the cheerleaders competed in Nationals in the category of Small Varsity, which is comprised of squads with ten or less members, and the cheerleaders received enough points to qualify for finals, which were held Sunday, January 17; and
WHEREAS, the girls won the final competition and brought home the first ever ACA National Small Varsity Championship; and
WHEREAS, squad members include: Heather Broome, Heather Carlisle, Becca Thompson, Shanna Pulley, Candace Lindsley, Carrie Smith, Codi Graves, Nicci Miller and Amanda Santmyer, and squad sponsors are Heather Galyean and Debra Chandler; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this excellent group of student athletes who have brought great honor to their school, community and state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Sumrall Attendance Center Varsity Cheerleader Squad for winning the American Cheerleader Association (ACA) National Competition, and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Sumrall Varsity Cheerleader Squad and Sponsors, and the Principal of Sumrall Attendance Center, and be made available to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
